We stopped in the Capital of Nevada and got some chocolate. Their is a big Guy right by there. So we walked up to look at him and take pictures. On the way up their were these small benches that were very old. Bree wanted to sit down on one and put her hand on the table and slid her hand and got a TON of slivers in her hand. We had to get a needle from the lady in the store, because I forgot my car first aid kit. We traveled on to Tahoe and for the next few days we soaked her hand in salt water and then we dug out all the tiny little slivers. That was so fun!! But three or four days later her hand was healed and all the slivers out!!
We arrived in South Lake Tahoe and drove around to Emerald Bay. The most beautiful drive on Lake Tahoe in my opinion. You drive on top of this mountain, very thin like and you are up high and you have lakes on both side of you. We hiked down into Vikingsholm Castle. You can visit their website for more details at www.vikingsholm.org.
It is a old castle built by Mrs. Knight. She ended up donating the land to the state of California for an unheard of price?? Crazy!
Her architect was inspired by many of her trips to Scandinavia.
After the tour of this castle we hiked up to Eagle falls behind it and it was beautiful.
Loved the mountains and the hike was fun going back up. Fannell Island is the only island on Lake Tahoe. Day 1 was fun. We headed back to our cabin and got settled for the night.
